Spreepark Berlin

The new Spreepark will restore a green public space to the capital, blending art, culture, and nature with the site’s unique historical legacy.

From abandoned site to future project

With enclosed dewatering systems and a central water treatment plant, we are facilitating the restoration and revitalisation of Spreepark Berlin. The project transforms the area into a vibrant public space, reconnecting it with the community while integrating artistic, cultural, and environmental initiatives. Historical remnants of the park, including the Ferris wheel, are being restored and transformed with a focus on sustainability, giving these iconic structures a new purpose. Various dewatering systems with flush filters are implemented to develop site infrastructure. Due to cyanide and arsenic contamination in the soil, a treatment plant operates at a capacity of 100–150 m³/h.

Services and technologies used

Well gallery for arsenic remediation

The well gallery at the Spreepark Berlin restoration site is used to extract and treat arsenic-contaminated groundwater. Pumping and filtering the water prevents the spread of contaminants into the environment – a critical step in site remediation.

Dewatering for soil replacement

Due to cyanide and arsenic contamination in the soil, a treatment plant with a capacity of 100–150 m³/h is operated. Various dewatering systems with flush filters are implemented to develop site infrastructure.

Ensuring discharge limits into the Spree-Hi

The groundwater treatment plant at Spreepark Berlin consists of multiple filtration stages, including gravel, activated carbon, and ion exchange resins. This system ensures that the treated water meets the required discharge limits for the Spree by effectively removing contaminants such as arsenic from the groundwater. This guarantees environmental protection and compliance with legal regulations.

Collection pipeline for construction pits across the park, including necessary booster stations

The collection pipeline for the construction pits throughout Spreepark Berlin transports the extracted water to a central location for further treatment. To ensure the necessary pressure for water transport, booster stations are installed along the pipeline, ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the dewatering system.
